About Us

Thundercity Motorcycles Ltd started life in the summer of 2002. The owners, Andrew Malham and Paul "Tooty" Moody were long time Harley fanatics and amateur custom bike builders. Based on a small industrial estate 2 miles north of Leeds City Centre the business originally only sold Harley parts and Cruiser style clothing. After a few months it became clear that Harley riders in the area needed an alternative to the main dealer for servicing and repairs. The builders were called, and in October 2002 Thundercity opened the workshop, employing one mechanic part-time at first but within a year had two full- time mechanics on the payroll. Despite having no aspirations to become Custom Bike Builders, Thundercity took their first commission in 2003 and Rolling Thunder rolled out of the workshop in early 2004. Soon after that, The Coaster and The Godfather show bikes were completed. These bikes achieved notable success in shows around Europe and the UK and were featured in Back Street Heroes magazine.

In January 2005 Thundercity were able to take over the unit next door and moved the workshop. The much increased space allowed many more custom bikes to be produced. 2005 also saw Thundercity being featured in the TV program British Biker Build Off. This made Tooty into something close to a celebrity as it was shown all around the world. Many more custom bikes followed and in March 2005 Thundercity became the UK importer for Big Bear Chopper kit bikes. In 2007 Thundercity took on the franchise for Victory Motorcycles and enjoyed immediate success with these excellent All-American cruisers.

In 2012 Thundercity will celebrate their 10th Anniversary. They have managed to see off all comers and survive in a difficult economic climate. This is primarily due to their commitment to customer service and delivering value for money which has allowed them to build an enviable reputation within the industry.
